Heavy Gear is a tabletop miniatures wargame set in the sci-fi world of Terra Nova, a distant human colony cut off from Earth. The game focuses on small-scale tactical combat between squads of humanoid walking machines called “Gears,” supported by infantry, tanks, and aircraft.

What sets it apart is its emphasis on realism and combined-arms tactics. The system uses opposed dice rolls, where both players roll and compare results, making interactions feel dynamic and reactive.
